  • Find out current grades

If current grades are lower than expected and hoped for, be encouraged that students are expected to improve significantly between January and May.

  • Ask teachers the areas where you need to improve

Even within one subject, students can have areas of strength and weakness. Find out what your areas of weakness are, and try to focus in on improvement in these areas.

  • Inquire as to how each teacher plans to assess this academic year

Be prepared for methods of assessment to alter. Understandably, the Covid 19 situation is ever-changing and teachers must adapt their plans accordingly. The government has agreed to provide further training, so the current plans are still subject to change.

  • Understand exactly what grades you need to reach your next stage of education

Concentrate your time and effort on the subjects most in need of improvement. Once you know this information you will be in the best position to prepare for whatever is planned.

Teachers might be more responsive if approached by parents.
