Live Online Parent Training - Dyslexia friendly revision techniques

Dyslexia-friendly revision techniques
Live Remote Parent Training

Set up students for revision success over the Easter school holiday

Until now this training has been delivered in one-to-one consultancy sessions.  Wanting to help more students achieve their potential, this course is a more cost-effective option.

Learn:

  • Why SEN students struggle to get good exam grades despite being bright.

  • What can be done to help overcome specific difficulties.

  • How to work effectively with children rather than argue and frustrate each other.

Who would benefit?

  • Students taking essay-based exams.

  • Particularly helpful for Common Entrance and GCSE exams.

  • NOT suitable for students taking 11 plus or similar Maths and English entrance exams.

Who should attend this online training?

  • Parents of students who struggle to do well in essay-based exams.

  • It is NOT designed for students to attend.
Follow-up training can be arranged for students if there is sufficient demand.

  • Only one place needs to be booked per home/family.

  • It would be helpful, if possible, for both parents to attend.

This course will be recorded but NOT in its entirety.

People only watching the recording will miss a section of the training that will not be recorded

If you are interested but cannot attend on the 2nd of April, let us know.  We could then schedule another course.

Once the purchase is completed you will receive an email containing a link to the Zoom meeting that will take place on the 2nd April starting at 7pm.

STOP Dyslexics Underperforming in Exams

It would be helpful, but not essential if participants watched the Extended Workshop recording STOP Dyslexics Underperforming in Exams before the live training session.

We require a minimum of six bookings for the training to take place.
Full refunds will be given if needed.

Effective Revision Techniques for Students & Parents Course - 26 March 2022

Effective Revision Techniques

Help students exceed expectations in exams by learning how to revise effectively over the Easter school vacation.

Hands-on remote webinar

For Secondary school Parents & Students

26th March 10am – 16:30 pm

What will be taught?

Revision skills that work for all students but are particularly helpful for students that learn differently (those with dyslexia, ADHD, etc.)

The strategies and technologies taught have been proven to work. (Check out my Google Reviews) .

Who should attend?

  • Secondary school Parents & Students

  • The course is aimed at BOTH parents and students to create a productive and cooperative revision environment within the home.

  • There is value in a parent attending without the student, or the student attending without the parent (particularly for mature students).

Excellent value for money

  • In the past, I have taught these skills using my consultancy service.

  • Wanting more students to benefit I am now passing on what works via a remote hands-on interactive course.

  • The course is £95 for five and a half hours of training for parents and their children who are preparing for exams. (There is no limit on how many secondary students can learn from one family).

  • Course attendance is not only far more affordable than an individual consultation, plus the positive group dynamic can be highly effective.

  • This full days webinar is available for less than the price of two hours of consultancy.

There is a vast range of technology available to aid learning and improve grades. Most importantly, these tools give students self-confidence, something that dyslexic learners often lack.

February Half-term
Course Schedule

Timetable

Given the many parts of the course, Below is a listing of WHEN students and parents need to be available.

Parents

Parents (of less mature students) are required to attend a webinar on the 9th to ensure everything is set up to work when the course starts.

We are limited in how much we can help with setup issues once the course has started.

All other Parent webinars are recorded to be watched at your convenience.

Students

Students must be available for the majority of the supervised course as this is when we build muscle memory and intrinsic motivation.

  • Saturday 12th February 9.30am-12.45pm

  • Sunday 13th February 9.30am-12.45pm

  • Monday 14th February 9.30am-12.45pm

  • Tuesday 15th February 9.30am - 12.45pm

The distance learning section is far more flexible.

Over this period students improve speed & accuracy while learning how to use technology to write essays and take notes

It is not vital that students attend all the catch up webinar but those that attend them all tend to make the most progress.

It is essential that students commit to daily practice every day of the school holiday.

  • Wednesday 16th - Saturday 19th February

Independent learning any time in the day plus 6pm-7pm Daily Progress Webinar

  • Sunday 20th February - Independent learning any time 6pm-7.30pm Final Progress Webinar & Course Prizes

THIS COURSE REALLY DOES HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO
CHANGE A CHILD’S LIFE

Why a typing course for “Academic Success”?

Most schools are not set up to meet the learning needs of all learners. Experience has taught me that dyslexic learners need the following to achieve their academic potential:

  • TECHNOLOGICAL LEARNING TOOLS

If students cannot type, they cannot make the most of the transformative (and often free) learning tools.

  • EFFECTIVE PARENTAL SUPPORT

Dyslexic students benefit greatly when parents support learning at home.

Scroll to the bottom of the page to book

How does this course differ from other typing courses?

This unique course seamlessly combines the three vital components for academic success:

1.     TOUCH-TYPING

Once able to type, students then have access to effective learning technologies that can help them achieve more academically.

2.     TECHNOLOGY

We teach students how to use this technology and advise what they should use to make their lives easier and improve their grades. Knowing these skills motivates students to do the necessary practise.

3.     PARENTAL SUPPORT

Finally, we train parents to support their children’s learning effectively.

.

Summary of the course structure:

  • Starts with 4 half-day (morning) lessons;

  • Followed by 32 days of guided daily typing practice
    (20 minutes that can be done at any time);

  • Followed by 5 weekly webinars to;

    • teach vital learning skills,

    • reward progress,

    • motivate students to continue to practise.

  • Remote training is also provided for parents on how to effectively support learning at home.

4. Results Achieved

The course is designed to maximise typing progress in a single school holiday. Afterwards, students will be able to type schoolwork and continue to improve.
